It has been a long while since I have been on a bus, so it was a pleasant surprise to find how comfy they have become.  Plus, we couldn't have had a better, or nicer, driver than Peter: a real professional and a fun companion at our group dinners too.

On our way to Germany, we stopped at Arnhem for a visit to the Open Air Museum to learn about Dutch History.  With only a couple hours to see it all, I took the tram ride for a quick overview of the park and then chose a couple of the many displays along the way, as I walked across the grounds to our lunch rendevous.  We had three different kinds of Dutch pancakes for lunch, and all three were delicious!

We reached our 700 year old Bacharach hotel about 6 p.m. and most of us headed straight out to see as much of the town as we could before our group met for dinner at 7:30.  I was wowed by the St. Werner Chapel ruins just above the town and tried to find a path up to it.  Instead, I came upon a quiet stream-side lane that lead me back into town:  just as well, there was chicken and spaetzle waiting - along with a delicious local white wine.
